Chip has over twenty Shakespearean roles to his credit since debuting in John Houseman鈥檚 production of Richard III at the Old Globe Theatre.听 He has performed with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival since 2000, including the title role in Richard II, Angelo in Much Ado About Nothing, Bob Ewell in To Kill a Mockingbird (Marlowe Award), the Duke of Norfolk in Henry VIII, King Louis XIII in The Three Musketeers (Camera鈥檚 Eye Award nomination), the title role in Richard III (Denver Post Ovation Award nomination), Francis Flute and Thisbe in A Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream, Richard of Gloucester in Henry VI, Parts 1 and 2, and Speed in The Two Gentlemen of Verona.听

His work in New York includes Seth Panitch鈥檚 Hell: Paradise Found at 59E59, Richard Toth鈥檚 Foodstable at HERE Arts Center, Timothy Braun鈥檚 Mirrorball at the Connelly Theatre, Hamlet (directed by Barbara Bosch) at the Michael Weller Theatre, Act of the Possessed (directed by Cynthia Croot) at the Guggenheim Museum, 艩惫别箩办 (directed by Dalia Ibelhauptait臈.听Drama League nomination for Distinguished Production) and Andorra (directed by Liviu Ciulei) at Theatre for a New Audience, Richard III (directed by Andrei Serban) at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, Godard (distant and right) (directed by Robert Woodruff) at the Ohio Theatre, and The Song of Seven Cities (directed by Peter DuBois) at the Clemente Soto V茅lez Center.

Elsewhere, he has been seen as the title role in Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde (directed by Stephen Weitz) with Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company, as Richard Rich in A Man for All Seasons (directed by Anthony Powell) at the Arvada Center, in An American Christmas with Lambs Players Theatre, with Stories On Stage, and with Write Out Loud.

Chip鈥檚 film and TV work includes听The Phantom 52听(Sundance Film Festival), Dear Eleanor, Psyched (Discovery Channel), Law & Order (NBC), Les Miserables (directed by Bille August), Prague Duet, Hidden in Silence (Lifetime Network), Unsolved Mysteries (NBC) and network commercials for the Colorado Lottery, Nike, the National Aquarium, Starburst Candy, NyQuil, and AOL.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Chip was an expatriate actor in Prague in the 1990s, and听has been a recurring guest artist in the Czech Republic.听听His international work includes site-based听performances with HoME Theatre Company, including the title role in听Oedipus (complexly)听at Divadlo Alfred ve听Dvo艡e and in their U.S. premiere, Hologramatic Encounters (a solo audience participatory project under artists Cristina Maldonado of Mexico and Daniel Pizamiglio of Portugal),听A Christmas听Carol听at Divadlo na Zabradli (artistic home of former Czech president Vaclav Havel), Victoria Dougherty鈥檚 English premiere of Va拧ek K谩艌a's听Stalinist propaganda play,听Parta Brusi膷e Karhana听(Karhan鈥檚 Men), and numerous productions as a member of听resident theatre troupe Misery Loves Company, including the Eastern European premiere of听Angels in America听and a bilingual co-production of听The King Stag听with company Divadlo Ka拧par.

At SM调教所-Boulder, Chip鈥檚 acting credits include Alex Cox鈥檚 film, Bill the Galactic Hero, Lee Blessing鈥檚 solo play, Chesapeake (directed by Lucy Smith Conroy), The Ingenious Chambermaid (directed by Joan Schirle), The Visit (directed by Jane Page), and Marat/Sade.听

His directing credits include Kelly McAllister鈥檚听Burning the Old Man, Timothy Braun's Angelina, Steven Cole Hughes鈥 and Jessica Jackson鈥檚 The Presidents!, and Singles Night, a collection of one-person shows by BFA Performance seniors.

Chip has taught as a faculty member and teaching artist at Akademie m煤zick媒ch um臎n铆 v Praze (Academy of Performing Arts in Prague), the University of Alabama, Prague Film School, Hunter College of The City University of New York, Gordon College, and conferences of the Association of Theatre in Higher Education and the American College Theatre Festival.

His own training started at San Diego Junior Theatre and San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, and continued under the tutelage of Kristin Linklater, Anne Bogart, Robert Woodruff, Andrei Serban, Nicolaus Wolcz, Arnold Aronson, James Donlon, Judith Dickerson, and Michael Morgan.

Chip is on the Board of Advisors for Culture Current in Helsinki, Finland, and in the Artistic Ensemble of Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company.听 He is a member of Actors Equity Association and of the Screen Actors Guild 鈥 American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.听 His academic affiliations include the Voice and Speech Trainers Association, the Association of Theatre Movement Educators, and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
