For more than听45 years, Douglas Kimmel听(Psych)听has been a champion for the LGBTQ community. He received a lifetime achievement award from political advocacy non-profit EqualityMaine for his distinguished service as a psychologist working with the LGBTQ community. Doug lives with his husband in Hancock, Maine, where they were legally married in 2013, on their 44th anniversary. In 1969, the couple had听a wedding ceremony in Boulder at the United Protestant Center.听

Kirkus Reviews听wrote that it is 鈥渁听compelling sociological听examination of the pre-1970 Los Angeles 鈥榮treet听groups鈥 that improbably听spawned the Crips and听Bloods,鈥 and is a 鈥済ripping urban history.鈥 John听is a professor emeritus听of sociology at California听State University,听Dominguez Hills.
